The Pike amusement park opened on the beach in
Long Beach
on July 4, 1902.
Also known as the "Walk of a Thousand Lights," it became one of the most popular amusement parks on the west coast.
The Long Beach Pike was considered to be the West Coast's
Coney Island
. It featured some of the world’s most innovative rides and roller coasters.
JACK RABBIT RACER ROLLER COASTER
opened for business on May 1, 1915, replacing a smaller coaster.
On Memorial Day 1930
The Cyclone Racer roller coaster
opens to the public, replacing
the Jackrabbit Racer.
